TROWBRIDGE produced a clinical, workmanlike performance to gain their first victory over Cooper-Avon for three seasons.
At times the game was not a rugby spectacle for the many spectators but nevertheless it was a gritty determined display from Trowbridge who earned themselves a well deserved victory.
Cooper-Avon scored the only points in the first half with a penalty kick.
In the second half Trowbridge pinned their opponents back with a display of aggressive defence and were rewarded when fly half Sean Sullivan kicked two penalties.
Almost immediately Cooper-Avon replied with a penalty.
This spurred Trowbridge on further and the team were soon dominating in most areas of the game. Following an impressive phase of play with forwards and backs interlinking, an overlap was created for captain and centre Richard Jones to glide through the defence to score the only try of the match to make the final score 11-6 to the home side.
It was a good day all round for the Trowbridge sides who managed a whitewash of their opponents with the 2nd and 3rd teams easily beating their Cooper-Avon counterparts 58-3 and 48-0 respectively.
