HEROIN addict Russell Bastow has been jailed for nine months after committing a string of offences including burgling a charity shop.
The 22-year-old was on bail for other offences when he made off with hundreds of pounds after breaking into the Marie Curie Cancer shop in Old Town as well as the library next door.
As well as the two counts of burglary Bastow was sentenced for driving while disqualified, taking a car without consent, handling stolen goods, theft, seven counts of deception and a public order offence.
At a previous hearing Bastow, of Purley Avenue, admitted two burglaries, driving while disqualified, taking without consent, handling stolen goods, seven deceptions, theft and an offence under section five of the Public Order Act.
Rob Ross, defending, said his client realised that he was facing a jail term when he first appeared in court earlier in the month and admitted the charges.
Magistrates jailed him for a total of nine months and banned him from the road for two years.
