MORE than £1,100 was raised towards school funds at Pewsey Vale School's Christmas fair on Sunday when dozens of local craftspeople filled the hall with their wares.

With 28 stalls plus games and sideshows provided by pupils, the fair was a riotous success and visitors from throughout the district crowded in for bargains and unusual Christmas presents.

Lesley Anger, one of the three members of the PTA to organise the event, said: "It went extremely well and we were very, very pleased with the response we had from the community. This was the first time I had been involved in organising it and I am so delighted at how well it went.

"All the crafts were made by people from the village. It is amazing how many talented craftspeople we have living in Pewsey and the surrounding area."

As well as Christmas decorations, there was stained glass, woollen garments and blankets, fun T-shirts, books, candles, cakes and plants.

Even Father Christmas dropped in, much to the delight of the younger visitors.

Mrs Anger said: "We tried to bring together as many of the local crafts in the area as possible."

It is thought the proceeds of the event will go towards the purchase of a new school minibus.
