Devizes Town Reserves and Wroughton edged closer to the Premier leaders with comprehensive victories.

Wroughton, at home to Biddestone, won 3-0. After a goal-less first half Wroughton took the lead midway through the second period when Sean Clarke was brought down in the box and Glenn Armstrong scored from the spot.

Ten minutes later sub David Slattery added a second, and Sean Clarke made sure of victory by adding a third.

Devizes Town Reserves registered a 4-0 win over neighbours Corsham Town Reserves, Nathan Sheridan (2), Nick Money and David Lloyd netting to give the home side a comfortable victory.

Leaders Shrewton and second-placed Trowbridge were without a game.

Cricklade Town, badly in need of points to lift them out of the relegation zone, were well beaten at Pewsey Vale 6-1. Tom Adams was in fine form for the home side, scoring four, with Neil Stephens and Mike Tarrant also getting their names on the score sheet. Tranter scored for the visitors.

Westbury United Reserves also scored six at Malmesbury, the home side replying once through Darren Walsh. On target for the visitors were Stuart Neal (2), Stuart Barber, Marek Mitza, Steve Bruce and Nick Watkins.

Purton Reserves and Bradford Town shared the points in a 2-2 draw at Purton, Steve Avenall giving the home side the lead after six minutes.

Bradford were soon on level terms, Robbie Simmons equalising three minutes later. Midway through the half the home side struck again through Avenall to make it 2-1, and the scoreline stood until five minutes from time when Charlie Powell gave the visitors a deserved equaliser.

Stratton Crosslink have been putting together some good results in recent weeks and continued their purple patch with a 4-1 win over visitors Aldbourne.

After a goal-less first 45 minutes, Crosslink struck twice in the opening ten minutes of the second period, Alan Blake scoring from a corner two minutes after the restart, and Gerry Wright adding a second eight minutes later.

Aldbourne then staged a mini-revival and pulled a goal back through Gavin Barron, but the home side were not to be denied and Richard Pearson netted to make it 3-1 and Gerry Wright scored a fourth ten minutes from time to keep his side in fifth spot in the table.

Bottom of the table Warminster Town Reserves were in action in the third round of the Addkey Senior Cup, losing to visitors Melksham Town Reserves 5-0. Wayne Bailey (3) and Thomas Stadden (2) were on target.

Match of the day in the Intermediate section was at Blunsdon, where the league leaders took on third placed Zarlink. In an exciting game the home side always had the edge and took the lead midway through the first half with an excellent solo effort from Mark Hammond.

Soon after the interval Zarlink drew level, ex-Blunsdon player Matthew Tate equalising with a cross cum shot that deceived the home keeper. The home side restored their lead shortly after with a good header from Dennis Wheatley, the same player adding a third to make sure of victory and keep United in top spot.

Also in the Intermediate section Biddestone Reserves gained a 5-3 win over Calne Town thanks to goals from Jason Prades (3), Rob Pocock and John O'Meara. Matt Forrester (2) and Lee Chalk scored for Calne.

Wanborough United beat Sherston 4-1 to pick up a useful three points, Alan Byrne chalking up a hat-trick and Stuart Murphy scoring the fourth.

Dunbar Westside ran riot against Down Ampney, beating the visitors 9-0. Geoff Swatton helped himself to five goals, with Richard Saunders (2), Shane Hewlett and Craig Roberts the other scorers.

Dunbar's Reserve side ensured a good day for the club beating Bromham on their own ground 2-1 in the Junior section, Irf Owen and John Webb netted for the Swindon side and Richard Witts for Bromham.

Junior leaders Wroughton Reserves took their goals for tally to 82 after beating Aldbourne Reserves 10-0, Stuart Temple and Paul Jardine scoring two each. Tom Dingle also scoring twice, one of them a great individual goal. Jamie Cowley, Paul Bowden, Steve Westall and keeper Barry Phillips from the penalty spot were the other scorers.

Cricklade Town Reserves suffered the same fate as their senior side, losing 6-1 to Marlborough Town Reserves, with Sly (4), Guarnieri and Maslin the scorers.

Sporting HKQ and Purton A shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw, Richard Rees and Ian Nash scoring for HK and Mick Vincent and Mark Giles for Purton.

Wootton Bassett A could be forgiven for thinking they were up against a celebrity side with Stan Matthews and Billy Elliott scoring the first two goals for Blunsdon Reserves in their 3-0 victory. Kurt Wheeler added a third.
