WORKERS about to lose their jobs at a doomed West Swindon factory have dug deep into their pockets to help sick children this Christmas.
Staff at the Anchor factory in Blagrove were among the most generous givers to a toy appeal for children at Princess Margaret Hospital, organised by Pinkertons Motorcycle Club. The club, which has collected toys for the hospital's Thames ward for the last decade, delivered another £3,500 worth of toys on Saturday.
"Bless them, even though they are being made redundant this year every person at Anchor put their hand in their pocket to help us buy toys," said club secretary, Mandy Strickland, who was one of around 40 motorcyclists taking toys to the hospital on Saturday.
More big donations came from the South Marston-based Early Learning Centre and from WH Smith, while club members also organised charity events and cajoled work colleagues into making donations.
