On Sunday, December 9, at 10am, a work party will leave from Keynes Country Park to carry out essential conservation work on Lake 34, an important lake for nature conservation at the Cotswold Water Park.
The work involves coppicing willow. More volunteers are needed to help with work which will allow for the growth of a dense layer of plants at ground level.
The main benefits will be to breeding waterfowl in the summer months, as they need thick ground cover to protect their young from aerial predators.
The wood collected will then be used at the next work party in January to make Willow Screens for the bird hide situated on this lake.
The work helps to deliver targets set in the Cotswold Water Park Biodiversity Action Plan, which in turn is linked to the County and National Action Plans.
