TWO people were still in a serious condition in hospital today after a shooting in Chippenham which left one man dead.
The dead man was named locally as Charlie Singh, a member of a large Asian family who lived at the house in The Causeway.
Police were called to the scene around 5.30am yesterday (Monday), and quickly cordoned off the road.
A 51-year-old man was declared dead at the scene, while another man and a woman were taken to hospital in Bath suffering from gunshot wounds.
The 38-year-old woman was this morning described as very critically ill and the man, 42, seriously ill after being moved to a hospital in Bristol.
Police confirmed all the victims come from the same family. It is believed that as many as 12 people lived together in the same terraced house.
Det Chief Supt Gary Chatfield, head of Wiltshire CID, confirmed at a press conference they were not looking for anyone else in relation to this shooting.
He said: "It's very tragic that this has occurred. It's early days and we are trying to piece together the picture ourselves."
Meanwhile, locals reacted with horror to the incident.
Karen Groves, owner of Collectors' Corner, said she believed the dead man was the father of the family.
Shop owner Amelia Hanratty said: "We're shocked and surprised they're a very friendly family."
