PEOPLE living in and around Compton Bassett will be voicing their fears over proposals to site an incinerator near their homes.
At a meeting organised by Compton Bassett Parish Council on December 6, people will be able to find out exactly what the proposals will mean. Andy Conn of Wiltshire County Council's waste team will be on hand to deal with questions.
Belinda Boyd, who lives in Compton Bassett, hopes as many people as possible will attend the meeting in the village hall at 7.30pm.
"I think people are only just beginning to realise what is proposed. It could be big and would affect a lot of people in and around the village.
"The meeting is an opportunity to find out what exactly is included in the Wiltshire and Swindon waste plan, to ask questions and then people can form their responses," said Mrs Boyd.
The Waste Local Plan is a long-term strategy for dealing with waste, with detailed targets and policies up to 2011.
The public have until December 17 to comment on the first draft of the plan and should call Wiltshire County Council on (01225) 713429 or Swindon Borough Council on (01793) 466406.
