MY tirade against FIFA last week appears to have put England's World Cup chances in serious jeopardy.

I rightly felt that Australia had been robbed of their chance to play in the finals and vented by anger on football's world governing body.

Little did I realise how my comments would be received at the FIFA HQ.

While Brazil have the Isle of Wight in their group, France have Guernsey and Spain have Anglesey, England get Argentina, Sweden and Nigeria.

Sven Goran had a smile on his face following Saturday's draw but I suspect it was more of a grimace.

On the way up to Wigan we were listening to a radio show featuring Mark Bright and Ian Wright. Wrighty seemed to think England's attitude should be 'bring on the Argies' and the Swedes' while national journalists were more pessimistic.

As usual, it's a case of expectations exceeding reality. Getting out of the group phase will be a real achievement.

After all, no-one really thinks we're going to win the thing do they? Do they?
