I SEE that the Football League is bringing in a code of conduct for mascots next season.
Has the beautiful game really sunk so low that we have to tell those donned in daft costumes what they can and can't do?
It would seem so, if the formation of a 'mascot working party' is anything to go by.
Admittedly, there have been some occasions where mascots have got rather overheated.
The Wolves wolf having a pop at a couple of little pigs springs to mind.
Cyril the Swan at Swansea was ticked off for joining in goal celebrations and another mascot (can't remember the club) was told off for taunting away fans with a blow up doll.
Apparently the new code will not tolerate 'lewd acts, racism and acts of physical violence.'
Hear, hear. Although it does beg the question how a mascot can be racist?
Fortunately, our very own Rockin Robin seems to have a clean bill of health.
I have had no reports of him getting lagered up in Swindon on a Friday night or giving anyone a good kicking.
Keep up the good work my friend and here's to a repeat of your heroics at Ashton Gate earlier in the season. That has to be mascot moment of the year.
