A NEW way of creating pictures has proved a great success at Burton Hill House School, Malmesbury.

The school for disabled children has been looking at different ways for the children to be creative.

One teacher has encouraged the children to build up pictures through different stencils.

Headteacher Phil Drake said: "It is a bit like painting by numbers, but one student in particular really took to the system, used it well and the results are good."

Pupil Stephen Hayward, 14, created a picture which has now been copied and prints are being sold in aid of school business funds.

Stephen has also been presented with a framed copy of his print. "Although Stephen did not draw the outline he certainly made good use of colour and made a very good job of it. He obviously has natural artistic talent," said Mr Drake.

The money from the sale of the prints is boosting the school-run Enterprise account that pays for activities for the older students.

The school received a cheque recently from GWR's Morning crew. The £5,000 grant is from the GWR Trust, from their Quid For A Kid campaign.

The money will help to buy lifting equipment for classrooms.
