The Lions Club is on the lookout for young people who can give their time to help the elderly, infirm, or anyone in need. The club supports the national Youth Award scheme.

Parents of young linguists at John Bentley School will have to polish up their French and German skills to gain access to a special languages fair at the school from 7pm on December 7. Parents will have the opportunity to learn some simple phrases in a new language.
Teachers at John Bentley School visited either the Brown's Shop community centre in Abberd Way, Dunstan School or the town hall, as part of their community training. Director of lifelong learning John Hamp said: "Our aim is to build a broader knowledge base across the whole staff of the changes, opportunities, developments and threats that will be factors in shaping children's lives."

Alan Holder, 27, of Wick Hill, Bremhill, was fined £60 by magistrates at Chippenham on Monday, December 3, for failing to produce his driving licence, insurance documents and MoT certificate after he was stopped by police at 3.05am on August 11. He was also ordered to pay £35 court costs.
