PARENTS of pupils at the Mill School in Potterne were in for a treat last week as their children presented the annual Christmas show.
The panto was Jack and the Beanstalk, which was performed by children from forms four and five. This was preceded by Baboushka, a Russian version of the Nativity, performed by children from forms one, two and three.
Both productions were a joint effort from staff, children and parents and were supported by the school orchestra directed by Roger Willcocks and consisting of 10 and 11-year-old children from the lower and upper sixth.
Headteacher Lindsey Gill said: "We always look forward to our Christmas productions. It is a lot of work for all concerned but the results are worth it.
"It is not just an opportunity for parents to come and see their children perform, but it is good for the pupils' self-confidence to stand up and speak in public."
The Mill School is an independent preparatory school based near the Whistley Road at Potterne. Music and drama has a high priority on the curriculum and Mill School pupils are always in evidence at the winners' concert at Devizes Junior Eisteddfod each year.
