The season of goodwill is upon us. Waitrose has come to the rescue and offered to provide (temporary) lighting along the eastern end of Marlborough's River Walk.
This path is owned by Kennet District Council and at the moment residents make a dash along the first few yards from Kennet Place in blackness.
The narrow path is sandwiched between a high wall and thick shrubs which grow along the riverbank not a recipe for safety.
After surveying the walk at night, Waitrose has decided it will, in due course, install lighting at its own expense until Kennet District Council gets around to putting in something permanently.
Thank you Waitrose.
