WILTS JUNIOR CUP: In round three of the Wilts Junior Cup, all three Trowbridge sides Deverills, Steeple Ashton and Heytesbury crashed out of the competition. Castle Combe's game at Minety was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Steeple Ashton were 2-0 up at Fusion Coleview after just four minutes, Steve Ivin and Steve Wells scoring. Wells struck again on 40 minutes to give Ashton a 3-2 half-time advantage, but the home side took control after the break to cruise into the next round by 8-3.

Heytesbury were 1-0 down after 10 minutes at Lower Stratton. John Mills got a quick equaliser for Heytesbury but an own goal was enough to put Lower Stratton through.

In an amazing tie at the Deverills, Wootton Bassett United went through 3-1 after a penalty shoot out. Oliver Worts almost gave Deverills a perfect start when he hit an upright after just four minutes. United looked to be in control of the tie with a 2-0 lead given them by Gary Loveday (44 minutes) and Ian Donk (51 minutes).

The game exploded in the 54th minute when Brett Ball and the visitor's skipper Ian Toby were both sent off. The referee also booked six players as the game threatened to get out of control. Back to the football, Worts got a goal back on 85th minutes to set up a thrilling finish. In the four minutes of stoppage time Worts was fouled in the box, substitute Aaron Stevens scoring from the penalty.

In extra time Shaun Bowden put Deverills ahead for the first time but Loveday got his second, to take the game into penalties, five minutes from the end. Deverills took a 1-0 lead but then had the next three penalties saved by the visitor's keeper Kerry Regon. United had their first penalty saved and hit the bar with the third. The visitors netted penalties two, four and five to finish a dramatic victory.
