CHILDHOOD memories are the theme for a new exhibition at the Dewey Museum in Warminster.
The memories were written for the Merry Go Round magazine by Louisa Colfox (nee Wansey) and her sister Anna Elizabeth from 1874-76.
From 1825-1835, Louisa lived in Sambourne House, Warminster, which her father had built at the beginning of the 19th century.
The Wansey family played a major part in providing the first purpose-built non-conformist chapel in North Row.
It became a school in the 19th century and is now Dewey House, home of Warminster Town Council.
The exhibition includes Mrs Colfox's paintings and gives a rare insight into the lives of people from this period.
Jack Field, president of Warminster History Society and Dewey Museum volunteer, said: "These stories are really lovely. So many people don't realise or get an insight into the spirit of those days."
The exhibition will stay open until the end of December.
