RESIDENTS in Bradford on Avon will be able to have their say about road safety at a number of public meetings.
The next meeting will discuss issues surrounding Trowbridge Road and the aim is to draw up a list of road safety demands to put to the county council.
Cllr Malcolm Hewson said: "People in Bradford on Avon are growing intolerant of the speed and intimidating effect of local traffic in the narrow streets which extend from one end of the town to the other.
"We are looking to organise meetings to cover the Winsley Road and Bath Road immediately in the new year and are writing to local schools and their governing bodies to ask for support."
The safety campaign follows the death of Mark Delahunty, a 41-year-old father of two who died after a head-on collision on November 2.
The accident occurred on October 31 as Mr Delahunty was driving to work at County Hall in Trowbridge when his Ford Sierra collided with a lorry 100 metres from his home in Trowbridge Road.
The transport assistant was airlifted from the wreckage and taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital with serious injuries from which he later died.
Cllr Hewson said: "We have found strong support for measures designed to reduce the speed of traffic.
"I believe that local people have a very strong case, particularly near schools and along walking routes to schools."The meeting will be held at the Avon Club, Trowbridge Road at 7.30pm.
