THE producer of the Wyvern Theatre's Christmas pantomime is appealing to companies to contribute to an annual scheme enabling disadvantaged children to experience the theatre.

Charles Vance, producer of Cinderella, this year's Christmas pantomime at the Wyvern which opens on December 14, is working alongside Clear Channel Entertainment in a bid to reconnect deprived children to mainstream society.

Mr Vance said: "Last year, thanks to your generosity, over 550 children had a special treat at the Wyvern that they will never forget. Since I introduced this appeal in 1999 over 2,000 children have had an annual treat. Unlike giving to national charities, you can see the results in your own community.

"I pledge with Clear Channel Entertainment, that for every seat donated under this scheme, we will arrange for every child to enjoy an ice-cream."

Mr Vance said that £12 would enable two children to visit the pantomime, while £60 would provide ten seats.
