GREENDOWN playgroup has found a new home, thanks to donations from two Swindon-based companies.
The playgroup, which caters for 44 children, was based in the Len Hobbs suite at Greendown School for many years.
Its future looked uncertain because an expansion in pupil numbers at the main school meant that the space was needed for new intake.
But thanks to the efforts of South Swindon MP Julia Drown, a £10,000 donation from Swindon-based energy company Innogy and a similar sum from Nationwide Building Society, the playgroup were able to acquire a surplus mobile classroom from Chiseldon Primary School and move it to the grounds of Greendown School.
The renovated mobile classroom was officially opened by Julia Drown on Saturday. She said: "This is the result of a lot of hard work by everyone involved. I am delighted to open this new classroom which means that the playgroup will no longer have to close."
