TODAY we give a huge thanks to all our readers who took the Christmas appeal to their hearts yet again.
The Evening Advertiser's Christmas Toy Appeal, run in conjunction with Swindon Rotary Club, came to a close on Saturday, December 8, and once again it proved a hit with the people of Swindon.
We are currently sorting through the hundreds of toys and games brought in over the past three weeks, and counting the cash from the blue money boxes.
All donations will be hotfooted across to our beneficiaries over the next few days, spreading the festive cheer in time for Christmas.
Meanwhile parents and children from Stratton St Margaret Mother and Toddler Group made a final donation to the appeal.
The group, which meets at the Church Hall in Kenwin Close, Swindon, twice a week, added more new toys to an already generous donation the previous week.
Mum Jo Viveash, 29, was at a session with daughter Gipsy, eight months.
Mrs Viveash said: "When the parents were asked to help with the appeal we jumped at the chance.
"It's a great cause and gives other less fortunate children a little treat at Christmas."
Vice treasurer Karen South believes that sharing is an important message to get across at Christmas time.
Mrs South, 37, said: "Our group is in a position to contribute to others.
"We are able to get new toys for the children here and wanted to let other people share our happiness."
And staff at Jardinerie garden centre in Hay Lane, Wroughton, were spreading the Christmas spirit when they donated a Christmas tree to the Chalet Special School in Queen's Drive.
Deputy head Kathy Brian said of the gesture: "We were very touched by this gift.
"The children had a wonderful time looking around and were very well behaved."
And employees at Tesco in Ocotal Way, Swindon, were all smiles when the company donated £100 worth of games and toys.
If you still have new toys to donate bring them along to the Evening Advertiser reception, 100 Victoria Road.
We will be happy to accept last minute donations throughout this week, but please remember we are only distributing new toys.
And the online link will remain up and running for a while longer.
