FIRST Great Western has published a revised Christmas and New Year timetable.
A number of services have been extended from Bristol into the West of England during the holiday period to take account of an increase in long distance leisure travel and fewer business customers.
Some early morning services largely used by commuters on routes between Swindon, Bristol, South Wales and London Paddington have been cancelled from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day.
As usual, services will end earlier than normal on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve and, in common with other long distance train operators, there will be no services on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
David Mathieson, First Great Western's services development manager, said: "The way customers use First Great Western changes immensely over the festive period, and the additional services and other alterations reflect that. As well as the extra services, some other times have been changed slightly."
He says passengers should call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950 and should book early by calling 08457 000 125.
