Two more Swindon primary schools have received the Basic Skills Agency's Primary Quality Mark.
Eastrop Infant School, Highworth, and Pinehurst Infant School join four other Swindon schools: Oliver Tomkins Infants, Goddard Park Primary, South Marston Primary and Lainesmead Primary who already have this national recognition of their work.
The director of the Basic Skills Agency, Alan Wells OBE, is coming to Swindon from London on Friday, December 14, to present the Quality Mark plaques to the two schools.
He will visit Pinehurst Infant School in the morning where the head teacher is looking forward to Mr Wells seeing the range of support the school provides for its children to improve their learning. He will present the school's Quality Mark plaque during an assembly. In the afternoon Mr Wells will visit Eastrop Infant School, visit all the classes to meet the children and staff and again present the plaque during assembly.
Mr Wells will briefly visit Drove Primary School at lunchtime. Drove Primary is one of a further seven schools in Swindon currently working towards achievement of the quality mark. He will be joined by Dr Mike Lusty, Swindon's director of education and community.
Coun Garry Perkins, lead member for education and community, said: "Many congratulations go to Eastrop and Pinehurst Infant Schools who have done very well in achieving the Basic Skills Quality Mark for primary schools."
