STAFF at Mike McGuire butchers are so proud of the carcass of a champion Charolais Cross bull that they have hung it in the window.
While still on the hoof two weeks ago the bull won top prize in its class at the Christmas Cattle Auction in Winslow, Buckinghamshire.
But the prize 17-month-old steer had little time to enjoy its moment of glory and now has pride of place in the Havelock Street shop.
The butchers say they have already sold cuts from the carcass at £8.25 a pound the bull cost some £1,000 in total.
It had been declared a champion when alive because of its excellent shape and bone structure.
Mike McGuire owner Richard Sell, 36, said: "People like to know they are eating quality meat and if they see a piece of meat in our shop that's won prizes that's good for us. Every now and then we have something like BSE or foot and mouth and something like this gives them confidence in meat."
