LETTER writer Alex Dawson does genuinely care about cyclists. If Peter Timms read the Advertiser daily, he may have seen the points to the cycling debate.

Mr Dawson can choose to live as far away from his workplace as he likes. If I had the money I would choose to live in a rural area and not next to factories.

To say motorists' "bad behaviour" is down to congestion from people commuting from rural areas is utter rubbish. So in other words, the people who cut me up on my bike, the ones who go through red lights and do not allow cyclists enough room, are only doing this because of congestion I'd call this an excuse to say the least.

He finds us irritating when we cycle on the path, and says that vulnerable people have more appropriate terms for us.

Peter Timms, you are speaking for yourself and not the whole of Swindon. Most of us cyclists are polite humans who say please and thank you to people we pass. Put a smile on your face and relax and people might smile back.
