BABY Lauren Booth was the star attraction at a Christmas craft bazaar in Chippenham on Saturday, which raised £1,300.

Lauren's parents Lisa-Jayne and Paul Booth organised the Christmas event in the Neeld Hall to raise money for the Lauren Booth Appeal.

Lauren was just six weeks old when was taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital suffering from group B streptococcal meningitis. At one point her condition was so bad she stopped breathing.

After her recovery, her parents pledged to raise £500 for the Forever Friends Appeal.

The target was soon surpassed and turned into a year-long event, due to finish on Lauren's first birthday on March 19.

Father Christmas was a special guest at the bazaar, giving his reindeer a rest and arriving instead in a limousine.

Mrs Booth said she was delighted they had raised so much money.

"I don't know how much we were expecting, but not this much," she said.

To add to the appeal's total, which has now reached £4,000, Mr and Mrs Booth will take part in the Bath Half Marathon on March 17 next year.
