YOUTH FOOTBALL: HIGHWORTH were the day's big winners in the under 11s division of the Swindon and District Minors League.
Their 9-0 success over Malmesbury owed much to an inspired substitution.
Highworth led 2-0 at the break, with goals from Turner and Conn, but supersub Daniel King made a dream start on his Highworth debut after coming on at half-time.
King headed home with his first touch and added three more in a stunning individual display.
Chris Harris, who also entered the game in the second half, scored as well. Conn and Wells completed the scoring.
Wootton Bassett produced a determined display before slipping to a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Brunel Boys.
The Boys roared into a 3-0 interval lead thanks to goals from Daniel Legg, Lee Beale and Jason Viola.
Scott Barnes briefly extended Brunel's advantage after the break, but Harry Fitzwilliams' fine strike gave Bassett some consolation for a much improved second-half display.
In the under 12s division, Wootton Bassett secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season, after trouncing Lydiard Youth 6-0.
