ANIMAL sanctuary Devizes Kats and Kits in Care has appealed for donations of cat food as its shelter fills up with homeless animals.
Founder Lorraine Spencer has been busy trapping a colony of feral cats on the grounds of the Appetito food factory in Trowbridge but the usual waifs and strays have been making their way to her door as well.
She said: "We are absolutely filled to the rafters with cats 49 at the last count and that is before the usual influx after Christmas and New Year.
"Our greatest need is for tinned cat and kitten food. We go through 30 tins a day, which doesn't sound much until you count it up over a week. I have just ordered £500 of tinned food but we would be extremely grateful for any donations."
Tins can be left at Safeway supermarket in Estcourt Street, Wilson's pet store in the Shambles or McQueen's Veterinary Centre on Hopton Industrial Estate.
Anyone interested in homing cats can contact the centre on (01672) 851234.
