A TRY from Chris Hunt helped Malmesbury to a low-scoring victory over a physical Aldbourne side at The Worthies on Saturday.
Steve Brady was the first home player to suffer at the hands of the marauding Aldbourne forwards early in the game and was forced to leave the field for 10 minutes with a shoulder injury.
Full back Richard Gaunt became another casualty moments later, but the hosts recovered and began to attack thanks to some fine long kicking from Brady.
The half-back then took the ball from a ruck and combined with Adrian Jacques for Hunt to run 20-metres to and cross the line for an unconverted try.
Jacques was the next Malmesbury player to be replaced when he left the field with a blood injury, while the Aldbourne tight-head prop was sin-binned for dangerous play.
The visitors were penalised for attempting to collapse the scrum in the second period and Brady kicked the resulting penalty to put Malmesbury eight points in front.
Malmesbury travel to Pewsey Vale this Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
