HEARTBROKEN Ted Whitlock said he has lost three stone since being rescued from the Pines Hotel in Chippenham and now longs to be reunited with his wife and family.
Mr Whitlock, 44, was rescued from the hotel on September 23 when he was taken ill and was too heavy for paramedics to carry downstairs.
He weighs just over 31 stone. When he was rescued he said he weighed over 34 stone.
Mr Whitlock, a diabetic, suffered chest pains and drifted in and out of a coma due to falling blood sugar levels.
A week before, he had been forced to leave his home in Larkham Rise when his wife Sue said she was seeing another man.
"I still love my wife and would like to get back together with her if she will have me," said Mr Whitlock.
He is still staying at The Pines and has been moved from an upstairs to a downstairs bedroom.
"I have had a couple of funny turns recently but nothing serious," said Mr Whitlock.
Social services carer Dawn Hawkins was present when Mr Whitlock collapsed in the hotel room and she called an ambulance.
"I am so thankful to Dawn for being there," said Mr Whitlock.
"I just remember I was in my room and collapsed. The next thing I remember paramedics came up the stairs and asked me whether I could make it down the staircase.
"But I was very unsteady on my feet, it was the right decision not to take me downstairs."
A specialist rope rescue team and a hydraulic platform were drafted in and Mr Whitlock was winched to safety and taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital.
Now, he says he is hoping to patch things up with his wife, and his two stepsons.
"I still love her, I always have, and I miss her and the boys," he added.
Mr Whitlock said he had not followed a formal diet but he had tried to cut down on his eating in a bid to lose weight and woo back his wife.
"I am determined to get her back. I miss her so much," he said.
