I WRITE to give my personal views on the new sculpture placed outside Calne library.
Any new piece of art will receive mixed reviews but my first reaction was 'it will look quite good when it's finally put up'.
Unhappily, I find that it has found it's finished position with its face lying on the ground.
This gives me the feeling that the council has paid a lot of money for it but can't afford to finish the job off.
Calne is becoming a very pleasant looking town.
The changes have been well thought out. They are forward looking but fit well with the surrounding older buildings.
This head would fit quite well but surely we should all be holding our heads high, not lying on the floor like some drunk.
The head is here to stay and I feel that it would look better in an upright position no matter what Coun Porter and the artist feel.
