UP to 30,000 people could be axed by Consignia over the next 18 months.
Consignia, formerly known as the Post Office, has been forced to make redundancies after recording a £281 million loss in the first six months of this year.
It hopes to make the majority of cuts through natural wastage, voluntary redundancies and outsourcing of contracts for activities like cleaning and catering.
Adrian Booth, a spokesman for Consignia, said there were no details on how the announcement would affect staff in Wiltshire.
"There are no geographical details. The situation may become more clear in the New Year, but at the moment, it's business as usual for the Post Office at their busiest time of the year."
