TROWBRIDGE LEAGUE: CASTLE Combe are the only league representatives left in the Wilts Junior Cup.
In a delayed tie at Minety, Combe ran out easy winners by 9-0. Daniel Gernonn (3), James Pope, Shaun House, Carlo Sgroi, Liam Cox, Jamie Winks and keeper Nick Evans (penalty) shared the goals.
In round one of the Knock Out Cup (sponsored by DL Windows and Conservatories of Chippenham) Westbury United A from Division Three put out First Division Bratton.
Paul Riley scored the only goal of the game in the closing stages.
Dursley Arms were 3-0 up against Hilperton United through Robin Walker, Steve Coveney and Rich Stevens. Pow then had a penalty saved by United's keeper before a late consolation goal from Richard Stokes made the final score 3-1 to Dursley.
Seend United took an interval lead through Adrian Richardson at Deverills Reserves. The home side might have led having hit the woodwork three times in the opening half. Richardson completed a hat-trick with Sean Meer completing a 4-0 score line.
Trowbridge Town Reserves went through 2-0 against Bradford Sports Reserves. Second half substitutes Dave Percival and Dave Campbell were on the score sheet for Town.
In round two of the A and B Cup (sponsored by Just Signs Trowbridge) Broughton Gifford beat Deverills 3-0. Matt Coles duped the home goalkeeper to give Gifford an interval lead and Thomas Donnelly created goals for Dave Welch and Chris Maskrey after the break.
Frome Sportshouse went out of the Somerset Junior Cup at Whitchurch. Sportshouse led after just a minute through Stuart Luke. Damien Mead added a second to make the half-time score 2-2. The second-half remained goalless but Whitchurch got the winner in extra-time.
In Division One of the league (sponsored by Premier Training and Development) the bottom two clubs Heytesbury and Bradford Town Reserves met at Heytesbury. Town went 3-0 up through Damien Fricker, Dan Cottrell and Steve Morris before Steve Bidgood pulled a goal back for Heytesbury. A very poor home performance was summed up as Bidgood missed a penalty. Lee Radwell settled the game for Town late in the game.
In Division Two title contenders Freshford United were beaten for the first time in the league, 4-2 at Lavington and Easterton. The home side were 2-0 up through John Chenoweth (43 minutes) and Mike O'Donnell (penalty 48 minutes). Mike Bergnach pulled United back into game with two goals. Lavington's Ashley Groves smashed a 30-yard free kick home to make it 3-1. Rob Jenks sealed the victory with a fourth goal.
Blue Circle's 5-1 win at home to Cross Keys Rowde lifted them into third place. Liam Williams and Wayne Bristow gave Circle a 2-1 interval advantage. The home side dominated the second half adding goals from Dave Martin, Graham Kirk and Williams.
Darren Hodges gave Steeple Ashton a 1-0 half-time lead against Bratton Reserves. Steve Wells, Gary Rowley, Ian Williams and Hodges extended the lead to 5-0. Bratton then staged a brave fight back before going down 5-4. The visitors' goals came from Dan Martin (2), Jamie Bloor and Shaun Sheppard.
Rudloe produced a good result at Broughton Gifford Reserves, winning 3-0 with goals from Matt Dancey, Dave Morgan and Andy Matthews. Dynamo West End (formerly Foresters Arms) closed the gap on Division Three leaders Deverills Reserves to four points. West End's Nigel Newell put them ahead with Will Downino getting Bromham Reserves on level terms. The floodgates then opened as West End scored freely to run up a 12-1 result. Nathan Mantle (3), Shane Thornton (3), Shaun Donneky (2), Nigel Newell, Trevor Jones and new boy Chris Mills shared the goals.
Premier Rovers led 2-1 against Castle Combe Reserves, through Mel Messaoud and Dean Gumm, before going down 8-3. Stuart Harris (3), Luke Stone (3) and Chris Rawlins (2) were on target for Combe with Gumm getting his second late on.
Jason Cole put King Alfred FC ahead at Seend United Reserves, but Julian Putt scored twice to give United the interval advantage. Martin Riddell got King Alfred level before Seend scored three times in the last 20 minutes, through Richard King, Rob O'Harrow and Steve Partner.
Hilperton United Reserves always held the upper hand at Bradford 201. Nathan Litterick and Chris Benton gave United a 2-0 interval lead. Adie Bell scored twice for Bradford after the break but goals from Pete Ford and Keith Quadling kept the visitors ahead.
