A MOTHER and daughter marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of their relatives with a £5,000 gift to Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Hilda Guy, 91, and her daughter Anne Ely handed over the cheque at a cottage in Corsley to Lady Virginia, the Marchioness of Bath, who is president of the Warminster branch of the charity.
Mrs Ely is a trustee of the Elizabeth Frankland Moore Foundation, a charitable trust, which was set up in 1989 by her aunt Dr Moore, who died three years ago but would have been 100 this week.
Dr Elizabeth, as she was known to her patients, spent her life caring for others, particularly Chinese people, raising vast sums of money.
Mrs Ely and her mother closely follow the work of Macmillan Cancer Relief, and were delighted to support the charity.
Mrs Ely said: "It's an excellent charity. Volunteers do the fund-raising work and the money goes to something useful."
Pam Goodger, member of the Warminster area fundraising committee, said: "This cheque constitutes a most generous donation available as a result of the foresight of an amazing citizen whose life spanned the 20th century."
