PROUD Bradford on Avon man Dennis Roberts was awarded his OBE on Thursday, December 13, for services to charity.
The Queen presented Mr Roberts with his award at Buckingham Palace where his wife Audrey accompanied him.
Mr Roberts said: "The Queen showed interest in what I had done and it was a real honour to be presented with the OBE."
The former fighter pilot arrived at the palace at 10.30am before the 11am ceremony.
Mr Roberts said: "The Queen entered the room flanked by two Gurkha Orderly Officers, a tradition that dates back to 1876."
Mr Roberts has been involved with a number of organisations including Bradford Preservation Trust and the University of the Third Age in Bath.
Mr Roberts said: "From the moment we arrived we were so well looked after. It was wonderful and very relaxing."
