INJURED Chippenham man Kashmira Singh is no longer under arrest on suspicion of murdering his elder brother Charlie.
Police say they will be interviewing the 42-year-old father-of-five and he may face other charges.
Mr Singh and his wife Diola were critically injured with gun shot wounds in an incident at their home in The Causeway on December 3.
Mr Singh's elder brother, 51-year-old Sawa, who was known locally as Charlie, was found dead from gunshot wounds at the house.
Detective Chief Inspector Norman McKeaveney said: "We have carried out significant inquiries with family members, and those inquiries are now complete.
"We will be interviewing Mr Singh with his solicitor when he is released from hospital. He fully understands that he has been de-arrested."
Police will be speaking to Mrs Singh when she is well enough to be interviewed.
Police forensic investigations at the six-bedroom house have been completed, and the property has been handed back to the Singh family. They are being supported by police family liaison officers.
Both Mr Singh and his wife are now making good progress in hospital, after fears that Mrs Singh might not survive her injuries.
She suffered a severe wound to her groin and doctors had to give her nine litres of blood in transfusions.
She underwent emergency surgery at the Royal United Hospital in Bath where she is now recovering.
Mr Singh suffered shotgun wounds to his chest and arms. He is now recovering in Frenchay Hospital.
Police were called to the house after a distressed-sounding woman made an emergency call, and said someone had gone mad with a gun in the house.
Firearms officers went to the scene, and a pump-action sawn-off shotgun was brought out of the house.
Paramedics were unable to save Charlie Singh, who was declared dead at the scene.
Other members of the family, including Kashmira and Diola Singh's children, and the men's mother, were in the house at the time of the shooting.
They were taken to a relative's home after the incident. Posies of flowers have been left outside the home.
Children from the family attend King's Lodge Primary School, where staff have been supporting their friends.
