LOU MACARI will take a trip down memory lane today when he returns to the County Ground with his Huddersfield Town side.
And he has real sympathy for current occupier of the hot-seat, Roy Evans, who is deliberating his future in the wake of last week's board takeover.
Macari is not fully up to date with all of the latest events at the County Ground. But he is aware of the job the management team have done in improving Town's fortunes this season.
He said: "I am aware of Roy Evans and Neil Ruddock and how they have improved things this season and I know that there is uncertainty at the moment.
"It is similar to us at Huddersfield.
"There has been a take-over in the offing for the last four or five months.
"I can't say it has really affected the playing side but it would be a lot easier if it was resolved and we knew who was in charge.
"So like Swindon, things are up and down at Huddersfield."
Macari will walk out at the County Ground for the first time in six years in charge of another football club.
His last visit was in 1995 when he was manager at Stoke City.
"It is always special when you return to one of your old clubs," admitted Macari. "But it will be extra special for me today at the County Ground.
"I had my first opportunity as a manager at Swindon and everything went so well. The place holds very fond memories for me.
"It will be good to meet some old friends from the past, particularly groundsman Jeff Warren."
The former Scottish international left Manchester United to join Swindon as player-manager in the summer of 1984 and spent five dramatic seasons at the County Ground, taking Town from the depths of the Fourth Division to the brink of the old First Division.
He left the club in the summer of 1989 to become manager of West Ham and since then has also had spells as manager at Celtic, Birmingham City and Stoke City twice.
THE Swindon Town Supporters' Trust wants to help fans gain a clearer picture of events at the County Ground.
Those popping into the TrustSTFC office today can enjoy a mince pie and write down a question for the new board.
Tony Norris, TrustSTFC chairman, said: "The new board is championing a new openness, which as supporters we can only encourage."
The Trust will compile the questions and forward them to the board, the answers then publicised through the Evening Advertiser and on our website (www.truststfc.co.uk).
