BATH have ruled out bringing in reinforcements to rescue their ailing season despite being dumped out of the Powergen National Cup 20-12 by London Irish on Saturday.

Coach Jon Callard has admitted he is on the hunt for new faces to bolster his options, particularly in the front row but any such moves are unlikely to happen before the conclusion of the current campaign.

And the former England full-back threw his backing behind his current crop, insisting he is happy with the squad he has at his disposal.

Callard (right), whose side now have the Heineken Cup as the only realistic piece of silverware available to them, said: "We have got to find supplements up front to take the weight off our props and the rest of the front row.

"But for this season, it is not a realistic proposition. Other than a few inclusions, I'm happy with the squad we have here."

Callard conceded his star-studded line-up wasn't performing but ruled out wholesale changes to his starting line-up after watching his side outscored three tries to none by the Exiles.

"I've known the spirit worse here," he said. "The players are obviously disappointed but they will take a long hard look at themselves and we will find the solutions together. There will be no slinging mud because that's easy."

He added: "We have got to get some confidence back with the basics because our unforced error count was horrendous.

"We have also got to get some imagination into a talented back line that is not playing with any expression. To make wholesale changes doesn't seem a logical progression from that."

Callard's assistant, Michael Foley, added: "The level of unforced errors was staggering and we need to do a lot of work on that. We self-destructed at times."
