SUPERMARINE were dumped out of the Dorset & Wilts Shield despite a 13-13 draw after extra time as Sherborne went throughas the away side.
The hosts started on the offensive and winger Nick Clarke, moved to flanker, was soon closing down the Sherborne fly-half, pinning the opposition in their own half.
It was Clarke who helped set up the first try of the game, catching a high ball and kicking through for Daf Marston to chase and score.
But Sherborne hit back straight from the kick-off and scored after some poor tackling by the Marine defence.
Towards the end of the half, another kick was chased down by Marine's Peter Alford, who went over for his first try of the season as the home side took a deserved interval lead.
The second half saw excellent rugby from both sides but, after minutes of constant pressure, Sherborne went over to score an unconverted try.
Marine again went on the offensive and earned a penalty inside their opponents' 22.
Tim Gallimore stepped up and landed the three points to put the home side back in control.
But although they repelled the best of the Sherborne attacks, a penalty conceded in front of their own posts allowed the scores to be levelled again and send the game into extra time.
Both teams came close to scoring after that, but neither could break the deadlock and Sherborne claimed the place in the next round.
