SWINDON Council should today be left in no doubt about the strength of feeling in the community of Pinehurst about the possibility of bulldozers flattening their community centre.
In fact they say they will physically attempt to stop the destruction of Pinehurst People's Centre if they have to. The building is far from perfect, and there may be a case for creating a new facility.
But the 100 or more at last night's meeting have every right to be cynical about an alternative smaller community centre coupled with new houses.
The council must demonstrate that it has the community's interests at heart. Otherwise it will find widespread opposition to any plan it comes up with.
