GENEROUS Park South residents raised more than £1,000 to hold a party for 150 children.
The event was organised by Florence Williams, who works at the Ring Coffee Bar in Cavendish Square. The cash was raised in the space of just a month, mainly with a collection tin in the shop.
Her dad Gerry, who owns the Ring, said: "There are very generous people around here and everyone has been contributing and helping out."
The children, aged between three and 12, were treated to a disco, hamburgers, sweets and other treats and a visit from Bob the Builder. Father Christmas also dropped in and made sure every child had a present.
The party, held in the function room of the Cock Robin pub, also had a visit from Swindon mayor David Cox.
Mr Williams said: "People were very impressed with the mayor who went around talking to everyone.
"People have come in here today and said what a brilliant night it was, the response from the public has been very positive.
"Everyone who came enjoyed themselves and everyone who took part enjoyed doing it."
