WOOTTON Bassett Town Crier and Sword Bearer Fred 'Boots' Deacon has been honoured with a Civic Award.
The 69-year-old was one of four people recognised during a ceremony at the Town Council ceremony at the Memorial Hall.
Joe Gamble, John Knott and Vic Miller completed the line-up and each received a framed citation and commemorative engraved medallion.
Mayor, Coun Percy Miles, said: "They have enhanced our town's reputation by their outstanding service in the community."
In a tribute to Fred, Coun Miles said: "No event is too small and no cause too insignificant to warrant his thunderous attention," he said.

John Knott, a retired school caretaker, was the instigator of the Town Diary. For 30 years he has been closely involved with community, including the town magazine.
Vic Miller has held many offices, including that of group scout leader, with the 1st Wootton Bassett Scout Group.
