ROY EVANS is expected to meet the Town board this afternoon to finally thrash out his future.
Town's director of football was unable to make a decision yesterday as no directors were present at the club.
But the Town boss had a lunch date pencilled in his diary for today and it is thought he has already made his mind up.
Whether the outcome will be palatable for Town supporters remains to be seen.
Evans said he wanted club staff to hear the decision from his own lips rather than reading about in the papers or hearing it on the radio.
He said: "It was unfortunate that I wasn't able to have a chat with the directors yesterday but I am confident a meeting will take place today."
However, Evans was giving nothing away in advance of the meeting.
He said: "I believe it is only fair for people at the club to hear it from me."
His reluctance to drop the slightest hint seemed to indicate that even at this late stage, his mind was not totally fixed on one course of action.
Whatever the outcome of the meeting, it was expected to be a busy day for the Town boss.
He was due to watch the reserves against Northampton Town before taking part in the club's annual Christmas carol service this evening at Christchurch.
He will read one of the lessons and spent part of yesterday afternoon practising his 'delivery'.
Evans has relied heavily on the support of chief executive Pete Rowe during a turbulent couple of months and vice versa.
Mr Rowe remains hopeful that a way can be found for Evans to remain at the club.
He said: "Roy has some clear ideals about how he wants to take the club forward and I share those ideals.
"Roy is without doubt a quality manager with a great track record.
"You don't find people of his quality very often, certainly not at this level.
"What he has put into this club over the past three or four months has been nothing short of phenomenal."
Town's game at Oldham Athletic has been rearranged for Wednesday January 16 (7.45pm).
