Cirencester Town were plunged back into the relegation mire last night after slumping to a 2-1 home defeat against fellow strugglers Rocester.
A fine run of recent results had seen Ray Baverstock's side pull away from the drop-zone, but losing to prime relegation candidates Rocester sees another of the chasing pack close ground on Ciren.
It started well enough at the Smithsfield Stadium, when winger Sean Terry fired the hosts into the lead mid-way through the first-half.
But Rocester grabbed an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, and then snatched a winner in the final 10 minutes. Ciren's defeat is also bad news for Swindon Supermarine.
The Hunts Copse club had cited Rocester as chief rivals for the drop, but last night's result sees the midlands outfit extend their advantage over Marine to six points.
Calne Town suffered another loss on the road in Screwfix Division One. Paul Rankin's lowly side eventually succumbed to a late James Hayter goal in a 1-0 defeat at Street.
