ICY cold conditions and frozen lakes hampered anglers last week with Ivy House lakes having to cancel their Saturday Open due to their frozen lakes.

One of the best fish catching matches last weekend must have been the Highworth AC Xmas Cup match held at Lechlade Marina. Kevin New must have really enjoyed himself, taking an all roach bag of 15-8-0 using a bread punch.

Dave Bryant also had some fun taking 8-12-0 of roach and perch, with Nicky Stallard filling third spot with 4-8-0 of roach and perch.

Even though half the lake at Bourton on the Water was frozen Colin Dunn took 32lb of carp to win the Wednesday Veterans match. However, only four anglers caught out of 12 contestants. John Spinsbury filled second spot with 21-7-0 and was followed by Dereck Hillier 14-10-0 beating his wife, Val, into fourth spot with 3lb.

The Cloverleaf Xmas match on Sunday was also held at Bourton on the Water. Ricky Spiteri getting the verdict with a 39-4-0 carp bag.

He held off Dereck Hillier who took second spot with 31-12-0 and Paul Hunt who was third with 26-8-0.

All weight were taken using maggot on the hook over fishmeal groundbait.
