Highworth's Northview Primary School choir sang live on the radio after winning a competition.

It beat 19 other schools in three heats to be crowned the king of the choirs.

The final was held at the McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village and was recorded by BBC Wiltshire Sound. It will be played on air on Christmas Eve.

Northview also performed one song live to listeners after winning the competition last Thursday.

The choir was made up of year five and six pupils and music teacher Jane Smale.

Headteacher Robert Bromberg said: "Jane does a fantastic job. The children are delighted and all the staff and parents are very proud of them.''

The choir was presented with a £1,000 cheque which has already bought mini hi-fi systems for each of the school's seven classes. Second place went to Grange Junior School in Stratton St Margaret, which won £500.

The other schools to make it to the finals were: Kempsford C of E Primary, Ferndale Junior, Ruskin Junior and Great Bedwyn C of E school. They each won £250.
