HAS anyone glanced at the Avon Insurance Combination table recently?

It does not make for very happy reading.

Before yesterday's clash with Northampton, Town's reserves had won just one of their 11 games and were firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

Such illustrious clubs as Barnet boast a healthier points tally.

It is not as if weak sides have been fielded.

The likes of Paul Edwards, Bertie Brayley, Mark Robinson and Sol Davis have all figured at one time or another.

So just who is responsible for this dreadful run of form?

Actually, nobody is responsible.

At least, nobody is claiming responsibility.

Razor Ruddock and Malcolm Crosby have shared the second string duties this year.

But Razor has shamelessly (with tongue firmly in cheek) tried to wriggle free of carrying the can.

He kindly asked me not to refer to 'Neil Ruddock's second string' when writing about the reserves.

I asked why. 'Cos we're bottom of the league'.

I then asked who would take the credit if the reserves suddenly hit form. 'Oh me of course'. Crozza joked: "Look at my record last year. There's no comparison. I thought Razor wanted to be a coach."
