MID-WILTSHIRE SUNDAY LEAGUE: SECOND half strikes from Dave Melin and Nick Harrison scuppered bottom club Linpac's hopes of securing their first point of the season in their clash at Trowbridge Wanderers.
The fourth placed hosts were frustrated by a fine display from the Linpac goalkeeper in the first half but went in front midway through the second period when Melin's effort was parried and squirmed over the line.
Wanderers' goalkeeper Scott Carrick denied Linpac an immediate equaliser with a fine save before Harrison slotted home from a tight angle three minutes from time to secure victory.
Improving Devizes Snooker Club scored twice in the final five minutes to earn a share of the spoils in their home clash with third placed Bell By The Green.
The Bell went a goal behind after 15 minutes but equalised when Fran Fife volleyed home from 20 yards. Snooker Club regained the lead before the break but a mazy run and finish from Fife restored parity ten minutes into the second half.
Andy Buller then put the Bell in front for the first time from the penalty spot and the points looked safe when Andrew Trusner bagged his first goal of the season moments later.
But the Snooker Club's late intervention ensured honours were even at the finish. Ed Dodds, Craig Townsend, Lloyd Sartin and Karl Stevens netted for the hosts.
The Bell's failure to secure maximum points keeps The Dolphin in second spot despite a shock 8-2 defeat at Netheravon.
The two sides were level at the break, with the hosts twice in front through Steve Webb and Leon Collins only for The Dolphin to level on each occasion.
But six second half goals moved Netheravon into the top half of the table ahead of the Christmas and New Year break.
James Dix's long range effort signalled the beginning of the goal avalanche, with further strikes coming from Ashton James, Paul Bevan, Webb, Collins and a Dave Drewitt penalty.
League leaders Selectabook are now three points clear of The Dolphin thanks to a 4-0 home win over second from bottom Poulshot Raven.
Allen Wenster broke the deadlock with a thunderous effort and further efforts from Graham Gaiger and Marcus Wallen opened up a three-goal lead for the hosts at half time.
Raven's Duncan McKay missed two opportunities to grab a lifeline for his side after the interval before Paul Machin shot through the goalkeeper's legs to seal victory for the Bookmen.
