YOUTH FOOTBALL: IT was business as usual for the Malmesbury Youth under 14s squad in the Cirencester and District League.

After crashing out of the cup last week, Malmesbury bounced back to trounce Wootton Bassett 10-0.

The hosts dominated from the start, and soon broke the deadlock when Wilson's corner was glanced in by Hunt.

Grigg, Marriott and Hunt all added to the tally to give Malmesbury a 9-0 interval lead.

Bassett, already missing key players, were reduced to eight men in an injury-ravaged first half.

Malmesbury showed the sportsmanship to match their talent when they gave up three players to represent Bassett after the interval.

The gesture ensured an even second-half, in which Grigg scored the solitary strike for Malmesbury. The win keeps Malmesbury at the top of the table.

Nick Harrison, Adam Forde, Phil Harris and Tom Orton worked tirelessly to ensure Bassett leaked no more goals.

Highworth were 5-3 home winners against Cricklade. Highworth started strongly, and with the slope in their favour, took an early lead.

The hosts grabbed three more before the interval, but Cricklade fought back well in the second-half.

Joey Dorey reduced arrears with a splendid lob, before Matt Buck made it 4-2, atoning for an earlier penalty miss. Jon Smith lashed home Cricklade's third as a fine fightback looked on the cards.

But Highworth killed the game with a breakaway goal late on.

Wroughton were 5-1 home winners against Ferndale Rodbourne in the division's other clash.

Highworth under 13s maintained their 100 per cent record after taking apart a spirited Cricklade team 12-0.

Both sides were hungry for the ball after a two-week lay off, but it was Highworth who settled quickest.

Good work by Lee Black led to Lorien Bardwell netting in the 12th minute.

His strike partner Alex Parker made it two minutes later, and Bardwell added his second in shortly after.

Cricklade never gave up but Parker notched his second before the break with a deflected drive.

There was no second-half revival for the visitors, and Bardwell completed his hat-trick immediately after the restart.

Ryan King made it 6-0 with a sublime solo strike and Bardwell's fourth made it seven.

Captain Cameron Holloway weighed in with his first league goal,

Highworth continued to turn on the style, and two more from Parker, Bardwell's fifth, and another Ryan King goal completed the rout.

Cirencester Juniors went down 5-2 at Wroughton.

Eldene Colts Under 12s won 5-1 at Down Ampney in the Charles Adams Shield. Wade Dixon and Man of the Match James Rogers both bagged two, and Calum Dunn wrapped things up.
