TROWBRIDGE LEAGUE: BROUGHTON Gifford have taken a six-point lead at the top of Division One of the Trowbridge League (sponsored by Premier Training and Development).
Broughton found themselves 1-0 down to Steve Coveney's goal in their home game against Dursley Arms, but equalised five minutes before the break with a header from Steve Jacques.
Chris Stiles put Broughton ahead with another header, but Dursley got level with a penalty from Shaun Daniels. Jacques, Stiles and Paul Bendall finally ensured a 5-2 victory for the league leaders.
Frome Sportshouse moved into third place with a 3-1 win at Bratton. Lee Dredge gave the visitors a 1-0 interval lead with Stuart Luke extending the advantage after the break. Graham Kimber pulled a goal back from Bratton before Damien Mead settled the game for Frome.
In the local Bradford derby Damien Fricker put Town Reserves ahead against Bradford Sports after just 65 seconds. Mark Williams added a second goal after the interval but then conceded an own goal. Sports got level with Andy Bennett's goal, but Town collected both points with further goals from Steve Roddy and Adam Bishop.
Seend United took a 2-0 interval lead through Sean Meer and Barry Holloway at Heytesbury. The home side had numerous chances, hitting bar and post, but could not find a breakthrough.
Division Two leaders Trowbridge Town Reserves turned on an outstanding display to beat Broughton Gifford Reserves 9-0. Chris Tricker (4), Lewis Haldane (3), Neil Kirkpatrick and Waleed Bakali shared the scoring honours.
Freshford United went down 2-0 to third placed Blue Circle, Graham Kirk (penalty) and Liam Williams scoring.
John Chenoweth was in outstanding form as Lavington and Easterton beat Rudloe 6-1. Lavington were 6-0 up, through Phil Simmons, Rob Jenks (2) Darren Gale, Mike O'Donnell and Steve Bush, before Luke Risbrook replied.
Cross Keys Rowde put in an excellent display at Hilperton United. Keys could have been 6-0 up by the break but settled for two goals in each half from Lee Randall (2), Andy Morrison and Jamie Baynes.
Division Three leaders Deverills Reserves won 6-0 at Seend United Reserves, Simon Mead, Paul Clarke, Clint Cole (2) and Chris Fellows (2) sharing the goals.
Andy Goodenough found the net twice as Westbury United A took a 2-0 lead against Castle Combe Reserves. The visitors staged a remarkable fight back with three goals from Stuart Harris (2) and Scott McMullen.
Bromham Reserves also led 2-0 through Duncan Biggin and Tom Lester against Bradford United 201. The visitors earned a point with second half goals from Mike Embleton (penalty) and Darren Brewer.
In delayed ties in the Knockout Cup (sponsored by DL Windows and Conservatories of Chippenham) Deverills and Steeple Ashton progressed to the next round at the expense of Castle Combe and Apetito respectively.
Castle Combe took a 2-0 lead against Deverills through Jamie Winks (2, one penalty). Deverills then took control as Combe's game fell apart. Darren Munroe scored before the interval with Oliver Worts, Aaron Stevens and Scott Laidlaw settling the tie after the break.
Steeple Ashton were ahead against Apetito after 15 minutes through Andy Edwards. In a very good cup-tie Ashton clinched victory with an 87th minute goal from Guy Rowley. Apetito finished the game with 10 men having a player sent off in the closing stages.
