FOUR readers can look forward to a bumper time this Christmas after winning a large sack of prizes in the Gazette gift competition.

The winners were presented with the fantastic prizes at Safeway, Devizes on Sunday.

The quartet were among thousands of entries we received for the competition which was launched back in October.

Each week readers had the chance to send in their names and addresses to go into the prize draw.

First out of the hat was Susan Alexander, from Westbury. Her goodies include a two-night stay at Inglewood Health Spa, theatre tickets, a DVD player, case of champagne, a child's bike and children's presents.

Second place went to Angie Reeves, of Templars Firs, Wootton Bassett, whose goodies included a stay at Inglewood, lingerie, theatre tickets, a vacuum cleaner, child's bike and goodies for the children.

Kim Pearce, of Belle Vue Road, Devizes, was third. Miss Reeves an administrator with Wiltshire Health Authority, was the last to select her envelope, but she won prizes worth more than £370.

The prizes were tickets to see Disney's Beauty and the Beast at Bristol Hippodrome, a mobile phone, courtesy of JAG Communication, a CD player, a cordless drill, angle grinder, case of wine and children's goodies, all from Safeway.

Miss Pearce said: "It was exciting when we picked out the envelopes. I am really pleased with my prizes, they are a good selection of different things.

"I did not have a mobile phone before the competition so it's a bonus to win one."

Miss Pearce, who is the vice-chairman of the Wharf Theatre in Devizes, plans to take her parents to see Beauty and The Beast.

Fourth prizewinner was Mrs A Wadsworth, of The Green, Dauntsey, Chippenham, who won tickets for Beauty and the Beast, a mobile phone, cordless drill, a fan, a case of wine and children's presents.

Safeway provided the winners with mince pies and champagne.

Andy Dingle, the manager of Safeway in Devizes, said he was delighted to be involved in the competition.

"There were some great prizes given out and with Christmas coming up it really attracted people's interest," he said.

Avid Gazette competition entrants are in for a delight after Christmas when we launch a room make-over contest.

For those who watch programmes like Changing Rooms and dream of transforming their home, this is a chance not to miss.
